Luminox, the Swiss Made watch brand known for their mission-ready timepieces, reintroduces the P-38 LIGHTNING® 9520 Series, evolving its aviation-inspired series with a new IP black 316L stainless steel case and refined dial for improved at-a-glance readability.
The 9520 Series draws its name and inspiration from the legendary Lockheed Martin P-38 LIGHTNING®, the American fighter aircraft that was one of the most distinctive fighter aircraft of World War II. Recognizable by its twin-boom construction and renowned for its maneuverability and performance at high altitude, the aircraft was nicknamed "The Fork-Tailed Devil".
Through its partnership with Lockheed Martin, Luminox translates this legacy of purpose-driven engineering into a modern wrist watch. For this new generation, the P-38 LIGHTNING® housing is a 42mm IP black 316L stainless steel case, giving the watch a darker, more technical presence while retaining the robust construction of the original. The black case treatment runs across all three colorways - Black Stealth, Sandstorm and Open Skies Blue - creating a unified, mission-ready character that keeps the focus firmly on the dial and the information it delivers.
That same functional thinking has guided one of the most important updates to the new series. The dial now features a shorter minute track, reducing visual clutter and creating a cleaner, more focused layout. The refinement along with the signature triangle and two dots at 12 o’clock, typical in aviation watches, improves fast dial orientation and at-a-glance readability.
Legibility continues when ambient light disappears. Luminox Light Technology (LLT) provides constant visibility in darkness and low-light conditions for up to 25 years, without pressing a button or requiring an external light source to charge. It is a technology central to Luminox's approach to creating watches for demanding environments and ensures the P-38 remains Always Visible, whatever the light conditions.
Protected by sapphire crystal and water resistance up to 100 meters with a screw down crown, the P-38 is powered by a Swiss Made quartz movement with GMT function and inner dial 24-hour scale, allowing a second time zone to be tracked, reinforcing the watch's aviation functionality.
