The partnership between Luminox and the Navy SEALs began in 1992 when Nick North, the Assistant Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Officer, sought a watch that would withstand the rigors and the harshest conditions of night missions. Fiber Glass
Our Fiber Glass compound offers a compelling combination of strength and resilience without adding unnecessary bulk. It provides a robust structure capable of withstanding extreme environments, resisting impacts and scratches effectively. Furthermore, its inherent resistance to moisture and chemicals ensures the watch case maintains its integrity and appearance over time, even in challenging conditions.
CARBONOX™
We use an innovative carbon compound material – CARBONOX™ – for our ultra-lightweight watches. CARBONOX™ is six times lighter than steel, three times lighter than titanium, non-metallic, anti-allergenic and anti-magnetic. CARBONOX™ has strong chemical resistance, very low thermal extension, low heat expansion and is weatherproof – creating a very rigid and hard finished watch case that takes ruggedness and durability to a whole new level.
CARBONOX™+
CARBONOX™+ is a high performance carbon long bar compound, in which carbon fibers count for 40% of the compound. In addition to the many consumer benefits already provided by CARBONOX™, CARBONOX™+ also delivers an ultra-strong watch case. That’s thanks to the rigidity of the carbon fibers, tensile strength, which is twice as high as with CARBONOX™, while water absorption is three times lower.
316L Stainless steel
We use high grade 316L stainless steel which has superior strength. 316L steel is also more scratch resistant and will not oxidize, rust or change color.

The case back is secured to the watch using several individual small screws. These screws pass through the case back and thread into the case itself. Removing this type of case back requires unscrewing each of these individual fasteners. While providing a secure closure, it's easily identifiable by the visible screws on the back of the watch.
